AP20 Topical Focus IV

Family Networks – Offspring

Offspring - Astrology Project Intensive AP20

You are the bows from which your children as living arrows are sent forth.
The archer sees the mark upon the path of the infinite…
– Kahlil Gibran

As with the previous, this Intensive is within a series of specific natal delineation subjects about facets of the family. The focus turns to astrological techniques concerned with how offspring are represented in a birthchart. First of all, attention will be given to the question of whether the experience of children is at all possible. Basic symbolism related to creativity and the capacity to generate nutrition will be discussed, and brought into modern context. Techniques will be defined in contrast with the true medical/astrological speciality of fertility and conception in itself, which is an overlapping biological subject.

The crucial importance of symbolic nuances and of the individual chart framework is therefore highlighted and revisited. Gradations of ‘fertility’ and ‘barrenness’  will be more usual to weigh against each other, rather than making absolute declarations of such principles. This reminds that nothing is absolutely cut and dried in astrological delineation, that ultimately there are degrees of process. It is always in the ‘art’ of the astrologer to use this knowledge for constructing testimony and weighing judgment at the given time.

In ancient times children were not only in line to inherit from their parental background, but were also a form of familial investment and a direct representation of the future’s potential. Whilst family systems and values can now be so tremendously different, this core theme still rings with a true echo today, in both an outer and an inner sense.

I have frequently gained my first real insight into the character of the parents by studying their children.
– Arthur Conan Doyle

Various methods from astrological heritage which reflect the occurrence and nature of children will be applied to practical case studies, supplied by both everyday clients and famous examples. Interest will be on the tone of relationship, the attitudes, and core themes encountered between the native and their possible offspring. How the potential of foster or step-children is astrologically indicated is another point of interest. The astrology of the dynamics between siblings will also be included in this Intensive. General notes about extended family such as aunts, uncles, grandparents will be an additional factor.

This intensive (AP20) was first presented on the Gold Coast(GCAS) in June 2011.
