“If someone were to inquire of you whether or not he will possess substance which he hopes to have, you will learn from him what sort of substance it is which he intends to have or acquire.”
Bonatti – Book of Astronomy 6:1
(Dykes trans)
The ancient chestnut of wealth – its creation, sources, amount, sustainability, and the purposes to which it is directed, is the subject of astrological endeavour in this Intensive. Ranging widely through heritage sources, from the 1st century to the 17th century, it can be immediately recognised that this arena of life experience has always been of perennial interest to astrologers and their clients.
Does the chart promise gain? Can it happen? Will it endure? …
This Intensive is within a natal delineation series on techniques around family which includes ancestors, offspring, siblings, and relatives. What the astrological heritage offers about these personal relationships will be reviewed. Practical examples will demonstrate various methods in the charts of individuals and family groups.
The family into which one is born becomes implicit in one’s fate, and has always been notable in astrological practice. For the connections established within any clan are a central feature of humanity and at the core of individual rank and resources. These roots may be transcended or remain binding – yet nonetheless, inherited themes can resound down the generations. Even though the situation appears greatly changed today and of a generally increased variability, there is still no doubt of the power of parental influence on the individual.
“An unfulfilled vocation drains the colour from a man’s entire existence.”
Honore de Balzac
This Intensive will explore concepts and techniques regarding vocation. A range of methods about this universal human enquiry exist in the heritage of astrology. Practical examples will be used to focus on the tricky subject of delineating profession and calling. There will be an examination of what the Art offers for vocational guidance, identifying difficulties and opportunities, and highlighting exceptional qualities.
A life path can take so many forms, may change many times, and one’s ‘work’ may have no relation to one’s true skills and preferences.
As with the previous, this Intensive is within a series of specific natal delineation subjects about facets of the family. The focus turns to astrological techniques concerned with how offspring are represented in a birthchart. First of all, attention will be given to the question of whether the experience of children is at all possible. Basic symbolism related to creativity and the capacity to generate nutrition will be discussed, and brought into modern context. Techniques will be defined in contrast with the true medical/astrological speciality of fertility and conception in itself, which is an overlapping biological subject.
The crucial importance of symbolic nuances and of the individual chart framework is therefore highlighted and revisited.
